Lee County and Beattyville Flood Update

Lee County Judge-Executive Steve Mays, Lee County Emergency Management Director, Mayor Scott Jackson, along with Lee County Search and Rescue and local law enforcement have been on the lookout for the rain projections and possible flood throughout the county with downtown Beattyville always being the most vulnerable. 

Judge Mays has declared a Local State of Emergency due to the potential threat of flooding for Lee County.  

He is asking that the citizens  of Lee County to be prepared. There is a significant about of rain coming down and flooding that has already begun. They are trying to avoid the devastating effects of the flood of 2021.

As of Friday, February 14th at 1:47pm,  LCEMA Director Sloan had announced that the threat assessment for the flood levels in Lee County have dropped from major to moderate.

As of today, Judge Mays says that they are seeing roads flooding around Lee County. He is asking everyone to stay home if at all possible and use extreme caution on the roadways due to standing water. Do not attempt to drive through high water! Turn around and don’t drown! Stay safe everyone! The following roads reported to have flooding at this time :

Wide Creek
Mill Branch Schoolhouse Rd
White Ash
Contrary
Blaines Branch

Brush Creek

Pawpaw Road
Big Branch
Fox Hollow Road
Willow Creek
Coal Branch
Gunnel Road

Highway 52, in the Sandfield area on the way to Estill County is beginning to see flooding, as well.
