UNSOLVED MURDER: Family Seeks Justice for Patricia Lutes

Posted

LEE COUNTY — More than a decade after the tragic death of Patricia Lutes, her family continues to seek answers—and justice—in a case that remains unsolved.

Lutes, 36, was shot and killed on November 10, 2014, just five days before her birthday. According to investigators, she was checking her mail when she was gunned down in front of her home along the roadway. A neighbor reportedly heard the gunshot and discovered her shortly afterward. Despite extensive investigation, authorities have not been able to determine what led to the shooting.

The loss has left a lasting impact on Lutes’ family. Her sister, Priscilla Spicer, recalled the painful moment she was asked to identify her sister’s body.
“They had me come down to Lee County and identify her body down there,” Spicer said.
“It’s awful. We stay sad and worried and wondering all the time why justice hasn’t been served,” she added. “I just want justice for my sister.”

Kentucky State Police Post 8 in Richmond confirmed that the case remains active, even after more than 11 years. Troopers continue to hope that someone with information—no matter how small—will come forward and help bring closure to the family.

Anyone with details related to the case, from November 2014 or at any time since, is urged to contact Kentucky State Police Post 8 (Richmond) at (859) 623-2404.
