Did you know that the definition for contempt is, the act of despising? And what about the word, derision? It means, laughing at in contempt; to scoff, to treat with derision or scorn, and to mock is to ridicule; an act manifesting contempt, to imitate in contempt or derision. These definitions come from Noah Webster’s dictionary of
the English language 1828. I for one am weary of all the mocking and contempt we see on
the T.V. REAL weary! I was taught that you never make fun of anyone, obviously that teaching has fallen by the way-
side. People who laugh at it are as guilty as those who do it.
Let me say here, I believe in God, His Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. I believe in the absolute authority of the Word of God, the Bible! In this Bible in the book of Jude, V.17, he says, remember it was predicted, he said there would be (intolerant, bigoted) murmurers, grumblers, going after their own desires, their talk is boastful and arrogant, admiring men’s persons and pay people flattering compliments to gain advantage (know anyone like that). V.18
In the last days (in the
end time), there will be
scoffers who seek to gratify their own ungodly passions, v19, agitators, setting up distinctions and causing divisions___ Merely sensual(creatures, carnal, worldly-minded people) devoid of the Holy Spirit and destitute of any higher spiritual life. I heard someone say, recently, there is a, “celebratory way evil is promoted.”
One last thought, II Peter 3:3, “you must know and understnad this, that scoffers (mockers) will come in the last days with scoffing, [people who], walk after their own fleshly desires.” Whoa! Sounds like today. “In the last days” What do you think? Are we there?
