It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Lonnie Combs, age 70, who passed away October 19, 2025 at the Owsley County Health Care Center in Booneville, KY. He was born at his home on Squabble Creek, KY on June 13, 1955. He was the devoted husband of Martha Combs, and loving father of Ashley Kaye Abner, and Joshua Lee Combs. He was of great faith, and deeply proud of his family. Lonnie spent his life driving a coal truck until he was physically unable to continue. He truly enjoyed his time here on Earth. He enjoyed building & fixing things, traveling, gardening, soaking up the sunshine, spending time with his family, and serving the Lord. Lonnie was a man who accepted life, and was grateful for whatever it brought. He was preceded in death by his parents; Rufus and Cora (Eversole) Combs, as well as his sister; Carolyn Turner. Along with his wife; Martha Combs, and daughter; Ashley (Cody) Abner, and son; Joshua (Jennifer) Combs, he is survived by his bonus sons; Mike and Joey Allen, grandchildren; Jalen, Logan, Bradley, Aubrey, Beau, Alaina, Maverick, and Abigail. He is also survived by his sisters; Amanda Bowling (Simmie Ray), Joan Belcher, Judy McIntosh (Verdie), Joy Bowling, and Jan Moore, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members & friends.
Services will be held October 22, 2025 at the Rock Bottom Baptist Church, with Pastor Simmie Ray and Josh Combs officiating. He was laid to rest in the Peter’s Cemetery located in the Levi Community of Booneville, KY. The Booneville Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
