Estill County got themselves on the board against Lee County on Saturday, but Lee County never followed suit. They blew past Lee County 15-0. The Engineers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by ten runs or more this season.
Spencer Young was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Sarah Kirby also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Estill County hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Estill County has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-14 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Lee County, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-12.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Estill County will head out to take on Montgomery County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Engineers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Indians have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season. As for Lee County, they are taking a road trip to square off against Wolfe County at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
