John Edward Dunahoo, Sr., husband of Diane Brewer Dunahoo and son of the late Charles Edward Dunahoo, Sr. and Mary Margaret King Dunahoo was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on March 29, 1953 and departed this life in Jackson, Kentucky on February 9, 2026 at the age of 72 years, 10 months, and 11 days. He was the owner and operator of Dunahoo Furniture, a member of the Oleika Temple of Lexington, Lee County Shrine Club, and a member of the Masonic Torrent Lodge #711 and Proctor Lodge #213.
In addition to his wife, Diane Dunahoo of Beattyville, Kentucky, John is survived by his son, John Dunahoo, Jr. of Beattyville; his daughter, Angela Sue Gibson and husband Ben; a granddaughter, Katlyn Elizabeth Gibson; two great-granddaughters, Charlotte Rose Bubbly and Ruby Palmore Blevins all of Burlington, Kentucky; brothers and sisters, Charlie Dunahoo and wife Bonnie, Mary Lou Dunahoo, Larry Dunahoo and wife Marsha, and Patty Saylor and husband David; special cousins, James Dunahoo, Brenda Marshall, and Marsey Rauschenbarger; special friends, Jimmy M. Sipple and Joey Smith; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, James William Dunahoo, Sr. and William Joseph Dunahoo; a great grandchild, Silas Ray Blevins; his two step-sons, Bradford Richard Thomas and Jeffrey Clay Thomas; and his first wife and mother of his children, Brenda Bowman Dunahoo.
John Dunahoo, Larry Dunahoo, Jr., Wesley Evans, Charlie Dunahoo, Ben Gibson, James Dunahoo, Jared Best, and Joey Smith will be serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Larry Dunahoo, Jimmy Evans, Charles Ed Dunahoo, Steven Dunahoo, Jimmy M. Sipple, Travis Chapman, Michael Evans, Charles Thomas, and Charles Thomas, Jr.
