Garland Joe Bowman, 87, of Beattyville, Kentucky passed away Saturday, August 9, 2025 at his residence unexpectedly.
Joe was born February 8, 1938 in Lee County, Kentucky. He was the son of the late Walker and Susie Clay Bowman. Joe was a member of the South Jackson Baptist Church. He was a veteran, he served two years in the Army. He was a retired machinist for Dover Corporation in Cincinnati, Ohio where he was a foreman. Joe and his wife Betty loved dogs. They enjoyed hunting and training dogs. He was also a private pilot. Joe is survived by one brother Albert R. Bowman of Florence, Kentucky and one sister Midge Brandenburg of Goshen, Ohio; and by several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Walker and Susie Bowman, wife Betty S. Bowman, brother Earl Bowman, sisters Ruth Burton, Edna Willena Cecil and Dorothy Fee.
Visitation will be held Saturday, August 16, 2025 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Searcy and Strong Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at Saturday, August 16, 2025 at 1:00 pm at the Searcy and Strong Funeral Home with Bro. Steve Kilburn officiating. Burial will follow in the Brandenburg-Couch Cemetery in Lee County, Kentucky. Searcy and Strong in charge of all arrangements.
