Edith Steele, age 85, widow of William D. Steele, passed away Friday, May 10, 2024, at the Wolfe County Care and Rehabilitation Center in Campton, KY.
Edith was born November 22, 1938, in Breathitt County, KY, a daughter to the late Henry and Alta (Turner) Johnson. She was a retired business owner having owned and operated businesses with her husband. She was a faithful member of the Beattyville Church of Christ and had a great love for her family.
She is survived by one step-son; Michael (Virginia) Brandenburg of Beattyville, KY, three sons; Shelby (Sharon) Steele of Beattyville, KY, Kenneth (Rose) Steele of Ravenna, KY, and Darrell (Phyllis) Steele of Beattyville, KY, two daughters; Marilyn (Johnny) Todd and Peggy (Richard) Moody, both of Beattyville, KY, one brother; Charlie (Janice) Johnson of Beattyville, KY, three sisters; Ethel Belcher of Winchester, KY, Gladys (Sam) Estes of Stanton, KY and Visie (Ernie) Dean of Booneville, KY, and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren along with many other loving family members and friends.
Edith was preceded in death by her husband, William D. Steele, her parents, Henry and Alta Johnson, 4 brothers; Walter, Daniel, James and Cecil Johnson and 2 sisters; Rosa Sargent.and Minnie Pearl Estes.
Funeral services Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at the Booneville Funeral Home with Marc Nations officiating. Edith was laid to rest by her husband in the Johnson Family Cemetery on Omega Road located in the Spencer Ridge community of Lee County, KY. The Booneville Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
