In Luke 24:44 we read, The the said to them, “These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me.” Jesus had been Resurrected when He was talking to the Disciples. Now, I have found in reading the Psalms that perhaps only one verse in some of the Psalms may refer to Jesus and in some there may be many verses that apply to Him. An as in Ecclesiastes we are told there is nothing new under the sun, that which has been, will be and what is, has been.
So I read Psalms recently and some of this sounds like the day we’re presently living, but is also a prayer to Jehovah. Notice the requests and vow to daily concentration given by David; notice too, the 6 reasons to pray and how God’s character is revealed in other words who God is, then David goes on to show or tell what enemies are like and David’s requests for their destruction. When reading verse 9 and 10, frankly I ask for the same things for the workers of evil in the world today. Then David ends with a request for blessings for the righteous. Following is that prayer. Psalms 5, “Give ear to my words, O Lord, consider my meditation. Give heed to the voice of my cry. My king and my God for to You, I will pray. My voice You shall hear in the morning, O Lord in the morning I will direct it to You and I will look up.
For You are not a God who takes pleasure in wickedness nor hall evil dwell with You. The boastful shall not stand in Your sight; You hate all workers of iniquity. You shall destroy those who speak falsehood; the Lord abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful man. But as for me, I will come into Your house in the multitude of Your mercy; in fear of You I will worship toward Your holy temple. Lead me O Lord in Your righteousness because of my enemies. Make Your way straight before my face for there is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part is destruction; their throat is an open tomb; they flatter with their tongue. Pronounce them guilty, O God! Let them fall by their own counsels; cast them out in the multitude of their transgressions, for they have rebelled against You. But let all those rejoice who put their trust in You; let them even shout for joy because You defend them. Let those who love Your name be joyful in You. For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous with favor, You will surround him with a shield.”
