Kiwanis Club installs new officers
The Beattyville Kiwanis Club held its Installation of Officers Night on Tuesday, October 13, at the Heritage House Restaurant with about thirty Kiwanians and their wives present.
The crowd was welcomed by outgoing president, Bobby Melson, who also expressed his pleasure at having had the opportunity to serve the club as its president for the past year.
Division 9 Lieutenant Governor Dennis Brewer, then installed the new Board of Directors who are Eddie Ashcraft, Truman Congleton, Bill Cornelius, Everett Lee Marshall, Bobby Melson, Luther Newnam and Mike Thomas. Following the installation of the board, Brewer installed the new officers who will serve for the 1987-1988 Kiwanis year. The club’s new President is Rick Johnson and its Vice President is Don Begley. Dr. George Barber will serve as the club’s secretary and Mitch Cornelius as its Treasurer.
Upon assuming office, the club’s new president, Rick Johnson, made some brief remarks in the course of which he promised his fellow club members to do all he could to make the Beattyville club, one of the oldest in the area, the best in Division 9.
A healthy Lee County requires great community news.
