Clarification of City Council Tax Rate Increase

On Monday, Sept. 16th, the Beattyville City Council held a special session for the 1st reading of the property tax increase, raising the rate to .3214% from the previous .309% and NOT to .348%.  That figure was misquoted in our 9-26-24 print. 

No attendants from the public was present.  

Motion was made to approve the 1st reading by council member Sam Cockerham and 2nd by council member Ronnie Stamper with no council members opposed. The 2nd reading of the increase was held on Friday, Sept. 27th. 

The Council also approved/awarded the bid for the meter replacement project to Sam Thompson and Diana Spencer at Monday, Sept 16th special session.
