New Goose Creek Road bridge in Lee County now open to traffic

JACKSON, Ky. – The new Goose Creek Road bridge crossing the CSX Transportation railroad tracks in eastern Lee County near the Breathitt County line is now open to traffic.

The bridge had been closed since April 1 for replacement. The new bridge was finished ahead of schedule, as the completion date was Aug. 1.

Traffic control on KY 52 adjacent to the new bridge has been removed. KY 52 had been reduced to one lane with traffic regulated by a temporary signal while the bridge replacement project was ongoing.

Some residual work remains to be done near the new bridge. Drivers should continue to use caution in the area.
