Donald Reece age 88

Donald Reece age 88, devoted husband of Carolyn Sue (Holder) Reece, gently passed away Saturday, February 3, 2024 after a brief stay at Lee County Care and Rehabilitation Center in Beattyville, Kentucky.

Donald was born on September 25, 1935 in Levi, Kentucky, a son to the late Henry and Louise (Addison) Reece. He was a farmer, a builder of quality constructed homes, and an innovative problem solver with a life-long commitment to the value of hard work. Known for his honesty and integrity, Donald’s work always incorporated sound construction practices to provide lasting value for his clients.

In retirement, Mr. Reece did little projects every day, served others with his work in the Lee County Church of Christ and shared long walks, gardening, conversation and companionship with his beloved wife of six decades, Carolyn. In his later years, spending time with his brothers Willard and Bill Reece, together with great-grandson Major on the family farm at Buck Creek was some of the most important days of his life. Donald is survived by his wife Carolyn Reece of Beattyville, Kentucky, his daughter Sandra K. Dunahoo (Charles Edward) and great grandson Major A. Dunahoo of Lexington, Kentucky,

granddaughter Ashley Edwards, and great grand-children Connor and Addison of Phoenix, Arizona. Donald is the uncle of many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, neighbors and friends.

Along with his parents Henry and Louise Reece, Mr. Reece was proceeded in death by his only son, Jeffrey Donald Reece and his five brothers, Bill, Eddsell, Jackie, George, Robert and Willard; six sisters, Pearl Solomon, Beulah Bowman, Ruby Roy, Dorothy Bowman, Nellean Combs and Gola Mae Todd. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 8, 2024 at 2:00 pm with a visitation on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Searcy and Strong Funeral Home in Booneville, Kentucky. The funeral services will be officiated by Brother George Robert Whisman of the Delvinta Church of Christ. Pall Bearers will be Kendall Sizemore, Denzil Sizemore, Terry Sizemore, Tommy Dennison, Tommy Marshall and Danny Todd. Honorary Pall Bearers will be Major Dunahoo, Charlie Dunahoo, James Combs, Johnny Todd and Bennie Todd, and Alan Riley.

Mr. Reece will be laid to eternal rest next to his beloved son Jeffrey Donald Reece at the Hamilton Family Cemetery in Beattyville, Kentucky.
