James H Murrell, age 73
James H Murrell, age 73 of Booneville was called home to his Heavenly Father on august 21, 2023; born January 2nd, 1950 in Booneville to biological parents Ralph and Lena Mae Murrell and raised by parents/guardians Clyde and Effie Gibson. He was a life long resident of Booneville and a retired entrepreneur of several businesses, the latest being co owner of Booneville Shopwise with his wife Barbara from April 1993 to January 2012. He was a member of Warrens Chapel of Vincent, KY where he served as trustee for a period of time.
He is survived by loving wife; Barbara Bowman Murrell of almost 50 years and was looking forward to celebrating their 50th anniversary on November 22nd. In addition he leaves behind his best friend/ fur baby Ryder, a particular nephew/son Emmanuel (Bo) Anama Green and spouse Christopher of Harlan, KY, nephew Brentt King of Estes Park, CO, special friends/sons Johnny Hensley, Bruce McKinney, McKindrick Little, special friends/daughters Crystal Osborne, Misty (Baby) Mason all of Booneville, biological mother Lena Mae Murrell of North Vernon, IN, sisters Carolyn Sue and husband Frank King of Estes Park, CO, Pam Israel and spouse Ronnie of North Vernon, IN, brother Billy Wayne and spouse Lisa Murrell of Lamb, IN and loving aunt Della Jean Angel of Booneville. James was a mentor to many people in the community; many of these were former employees of Shopwise INC, from 1993-2012.
He is preceded in death by parents; Ralph Murrell, Clyde and Effie Gibson, 2 brothers; Mike and Dennis Murrell, mother in law Beulah Bowman, father in law John Bowman, and special friend Judy Sebastian Spencer, along with many other friends and family. He was blessed to have the best medical care from our closest friends, Joan Wilson, Jessica Botner Wilson, Scotty Combs and Tabitha Lear. He was an avid lover of horses and participated in many shows where he won many world championships. He thoroughly enjoyed hunting trips with friends and his main passion was elk hunting in various locations in Colorado with his brother in law Frank King, where he harvested a 5x5 elk, he named Herman. But his greatest accomplishment in life was when he accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior. As Barbara says, “this is the greatest gift he ever gave her”.
Services held Aug. 25th- Aug. 26th at Searcy and Strong Funeral Home of Booneville. Scotty Brandenburg, Ray Crabtree and Emmanuel Anama Green officiating. Burial; Shepherds Memorial Cemetery of Booneville. Searcy-Strong in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers: Johnny Hensley, Frank King, Brentt King, Travis Smith, Kenneth Joe Neace, “Bill-Bill” Hall, Kendrick Little and “Rabbit” (Kenneth) Neace. Honorary Pallbearers: Emmanuel (“Bo”) Anama-Green, Claude Christopher Anama-Green, Paul Smith, Donnie Murrell, Henley McIntosh, Ronnie DeBord, Bobby Smith, Tommy Price, Bruce McKinney, Randel Stevens, Kyle Bobrowski, E.C. Hollon, Robbie Kearns and Duane Cornett.
