Sarah “Serry” Goodman

   Sarah “Serry” Goodman, age 85, of Booneville, Kentucky departed this life for her eternal home on a warm and sunny Sunday afternoon on July 13, 2025 surrounded by her family. Sarah was born on April 2, 1940 to Elisha and Dorathea Bowling of Booneville, Kentucky. Sarah is survived by her two sons Roy “Connie” Goodman of Columbus, Georgia and Mark “Karen” Goodman of West Isles, Wisconsin. Two brothers Roy Bowling and Andy Bowling of Middletown, Ohio.  Special nieces Lauren Riley, JoAnn Jarvis, Donna Cope, Diane Baker, Gail Howard and Jennifer Riley.  Three fur babies Lady Bug, Roodie and Bea as well as a host of other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Elisha and Dorathea, step-mother Nancy Bowling, her ex-husband Bill Goodman, her brothers Fred, Paul, Wilburn, Ronnie, Elisha Jr. Bowling,  William and Robert Bryant.  Her sisters Georgia Barrett, Mary Bishop, Lola Thomas, Alice Tipton, Mona McDaniel, Barbara Givins and Dosha Bowling. Sarah was a beloved mother, aunt, cousin and friend to all.  In addition to being a homemaker, she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Booneville, Kentucky.  She enjoyed attending events at the Owsley County Senior Citizens Center.  She lived for spending time with her family and friends, taking pictures and documenting moments she loved, as well as “running the roads” with her late sister-in-law and friend, Atta Mae Goodman.  Sarah enjoyed attending church and getting to spoil every child that she came across.  She was a collector of baby dolls, beanie babies and trinkets that she enjoyed blessing other children with as well.  Although no biological grandchildren of her own, Sarah was affectionately known to be a grandmother to many including Lauren, John, Daniel, Lacey, Jacob, Hayden, Preston and Colton. Sarah was humble, honest and above all loving.  Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of her family, friends and those that she loved. Funeral services Wednesday, July 16, 2025 at the First Baptist Church with Brother Bradley Turner and Brother William McKelvey officiating. Burial  at Esau-Gabbard Cemetery, Indian Creek, Kentucky. Searcy and Strong Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements.
