The Unfolding By Betty Crabtree

April 20, 2025

In your study of scripture, I am sure you have read something that you have thought about a lot. I have and still do. For instance, Psalms 19, in the God’s Word Translation, we read, “The heavens declare the glory of God and the sky displays what His hands have made. One day tells a story to the next. One night shares knowledge with the next without talking, without words, without their voices being heard”. Verses 1-3)
Now let me pause here for a thought. Romans 8;22-23 says “We know the whole creation has been moaning together in the pains of labor until now. And not only the creation, but we ourselves too, who have and enjoy the first fruits of the Holy Spirit (a foretaste of the blissful things to come) groan inwardly as we wait for the redemption of our bodies from sexuality and the grave which reveal our adoption (our manifestation as God’s sons.” (Amplified Bible)
Now back to my original thought; Psalms 19 in the JB Phillips Living Bible Paraphrased. I hope you get my connection of ALL creations groaning, waiting to be released. So here goes; the heavens are telling the glory of God; they are a marvelous display of His craftsmanship. Day and night, they keep on telling about God. Without a sound or word, silent in the skies, their message reaches out to all the world. The sun lives in the heavens where God placed it and moves across the skies as radiant as a bridegroom going to his wedding or a joyous as an athlete looking forward to a race. The sun crosses the heavens from end to end, and nothing can hide from its heat. God’s laws are perfect. They protect us, make us wise and gives joy and light. God’s laws are pure, eternal and just. They are made desirable more than gold. They are sweeter than honey dripping from honeycomb. For they warn us away from harm and give success to those who obey them.
But how can I ever know what sins are lurking in my heart? Cleanse me from these hidden faults. And keep me from deliberate wrongs, help me to stop doing them. Only then can I be free of guilt and innocent of some great crime. May my spoken words and unspoken thoughts be pleasing even to You, O Lord, my Rock and Redeemer. Our God truly is an awesome God!
