Flood Conditions this Morning Monday, February 17th

This morning at approximately 7 am, the Beattyville Police Department reported the following road closures in Beattyville:

- KY 11 at the Main St intersection is closed. 
- KY 52 at the West Main St intersection is closed. 

They asking citizens of Beattyville and Lee County to avoid traveling through these areas and use alternate routes. If you see high water on the roads, please do not drive through it! Even if the water looks shallow, it can be dangerous and may cause your vehicle to get stuck or swept away.

Also, LC Judge Steve Mays reported that at 3 am this morning the water stopped rising in Beattyville and has been at the same level for the last four hours. Eveyone is hoping that the water will start going down soon.

Now, that the rain has stopped, the temperatures have dropped to the low 20's causing ice in most parts of the County with some snow mixed in. 

Kevin McIntosh, LC Road Foreman reported this morning at approximately 6:45 am as saying, "Lee County Road Department has trucks out this morning salting and scraping roads. It will be difficult to determine the extent of damage to all the roads until the water recedes in those areas, please be patient. We will make every effort possible to address all areas as quickly and safely as possible. Please use caution if you have to travel today."

He, also, reported that Highway 11 near the Senior Citizens center is closed due to high water, as well as several access roads to Beattyville on Hwy 52 near the car wash.

There are some Kentucky State Parks open for those displaced by the flood and wintery weather. They are as follows:

- Jenny Wiley State Resort Park
- Natural Bridge State Resort Park
- Pine Mountain State Resort Park
