Indiana Couple Slides Off Road in RRG
January 20, 2025
The Indiana couple shown talking to a local news station about their incident.
A couple from Indiana visiting Red River Gorge to hike over the weekend, got stuck while traveling to see Sky Bridge. As they were going up the hill, they lost traction.
The couple said that they put it in reverse and backed down the hill for about a quarter of a mile trying to turn around. The front end just slid around, so it's very ice-covered with snow.
The couple was able to safely get to a nearby gas station and call for a tow truck after some help from two Good Samaritan truck drivers.
The roads in the Red River Gorge area and Eastern Kentucky had a thin layer of snow in the evening.
Salt trucks were out making their rounds, but it is best to stay off the roads as temperatures drop and conditions freeze overnight.
The Red River Gorge area received approximately 2 inches of snow on Sunday.
