Roberta Grigsby

As quiet as she was in life, Roberta Louise Crawford Grigsby 88, of Manchester Ky transitioned just as peacefully to her eternal home at Bluegrass Hospice Care in Lexington, Ky on Wednesday, January 15, 2025.

Roberta, or Bert as she was affectionately called, was born in Beattyville, Ky, on October 10, 1936 to the late Daley Crawford and Elizabeth Hill Crawford.

Bert married Roy Lee Grigsby on December 14, 1957. From this union, they had five loving daughters, all whom she loved dearly. Bert was a homemaker and took pride in raising her children. In her spare time, she enjoyed working crossword puzzles, sewing and reading. She also loved flowers that her daughter Betty would send often. The smallest things would always bring a smile to her sweet face.

Bert was preceded in death by her husband, parents and the following brothers and sisters: Katherine Lewis, Betty Okey, Dorothy Cawood, Pearl Cawood, Samuel Crawford, Clarence Crawford, Bergen Crawford, Leonard Crawford and James Crawford.

Leaving to cherish her memory are the following: sisters, Mary Jett and Martha Enoch both of Greeneville, OH and one brother Paul Crawford of Beattyville, Ky. Her loving daughters Peggy Love(Robert); Ethel Jackson and Thelma Combs, all of Manchester Ky; Betty Grigsby(Raydell), Nicholasville, Ky and Kathy Lyvers, Lexington Ky. Roberta also leaves 12 grandchildren who adored her. Liz, Chris, Suzanne, Robert, David, Matthew, Victoria, Michael, Raydell, Robbie, Rodney and James Russell. Also surviving her are 21 great grandchildren, special niece Christine Grigsby, as well as devoted friend Bernadine Ross.

While the loss is great, we find peace knowing that she has been reunited with her husband and family members that went before her. I know her husband was happy to see her. He’s been waiting for 16 long years to tell her to “Give me the button, Bert!” Rest well. We love you.

Services for Roberta will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 24th, at Britton Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Manchester Memorial Gardens.
